Solar panel installation across all five NYC boroughs
Solanta is a family owned and operated installer based at 199 Tompkins Ave in Brooklyn. Our in house team designs, engineers, permits and installs solar panels, batteries and heat pumps for homes and buildings in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island.
The five boroughs do not build alike. Brooklyn has crowded flat roofs and historic blocks, Queens has the widest mix of roof types, Manhattan is mostly apartment and commercial buildings, parts of the Bronx have tight lots, and Staten Island has large pitched roofs and attached homes. Pick your borough to see what that means for a project.

Questions we hear
Which parts of New York City does Solanta serve?
Solanta serves all five NYC boroughs: Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. The company is based in Brooklyn and also serves the wider New York Metro Area.
Can solar go on a flat roof or a roof with chimneys and roof hatches?
Yes. Solanta uses tilt kits and canopies on flat roofs, and designs around chimneys, HVAC equipment, skylights and roof hatches so the roof can produce more power in less space.
Is there still a 30% federal tax credit for solar?
No. The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025, and many websites have not been updated. New York State and New York City still have incentive programs, and we will tell you which ones apply to your address. Solanta does not provide tax advice, so check with your own tax professional.
Is there a New York State solar tax credit?
Yes. New York State offers an income tax credit for solar energy system equipment, claimed on Form IT-255. The amount, limits and eligibility are set by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, so read their guidance and check with your own tax professional. Solanta does not provide tax advice.
Does New York City have a solar property tax abatement?
Yes. New York City has a solar property tax abatement for qualifying buildings in tax classes 1, 2 and 4 in the five boroughs, claimed through the Department of Buildings. Eligibility, the amount and the filing steps are set by the NYC Department of Finance and the Department of Buildings. Solanta does not provide tax advice.
Are solar panels free in New York?
No. Be cautious of any offer for free or no-cost solar panels: the Federal Trade Commission warns that such offers are often scams. Solanta reviews your property and puts together a plan before you commit to anything, with no obligation.
Do I need a permit to install solar panels in NYC?
Yes. Solar installations in New York City go through the Department of Buildings, and Solanta's in house team handles the permitting for the projects it installs.
Who handles design and permits?
Solanta's in house team manages design, engineering, permitting and installation, so one company is responsible for the whole project.
What else does Solanta install besides solar panels?
Solanta also installs battery storage, heat pump HVAC, heat pump water heaters, EV chargers and roofing for homes, and works with commercial, multifamily and construction partners.
